Tell me about yourself.
My name is Denae Simmons and I'm a 26 year old Certified Bermudian Nail Technician. Currently I live and work on the Island full time at KEMH and in my spare time I create beautiful nails. I've always been an artist at heart and sought for a career that allowed me to be creative.
When did your career start? How did you discover your talent?
I've always had a nack for art. As a teen, whenever I got my nails done at a salon I would mimic what the tech did just to see if I could do it. It wasn't until years later when I was getting my nails done by a friend that made me realise this could be my calling. During that time nail art transformed from a simple french and strokes to unlimited possibilities when it comes to expressing art on nails. That's was drew me in.
How has your career unfolded?
Over the last few years I slowly purchased things to build my mini nail spa. I became very serious about it and soon it became an investment for something bigger in the long run. It's a good head start because at least I'm getting the experience on running a business and when the time comes for me to officially open I will be ready.
