Elements of Harmony, May 17 to November 30 in the Brick Dwelling, reimagines Shaker designs with sculpture and rugs by Kathy Greenwood and rugs from Hancock’ s extensive collection. Couture from the World: Inspired by the Shakers, June 7 to November 30 in the Brick Dwelling, Deborah H. Carter and Joanie Ciolfi use iconic Shaker elements and the Shaker Design postage stamps to create three dresses that bridge the past and the present.( See Art of It on page 112.) City of Peace: Photographs by Dylan Kubis, May 17 through November 30 in the Brick Dwelling, focuses on photos of the village taken by Kubis, who has Down syndrome.“ Hancock Shaker Village speaks to me as a photographer in many ways,” he says.“ At every corner, on every path, in every building, I feel a sense of calmness, solitude, peace and simplicity, no matter what the season.”( See story on page 82.)

In addition to an exhibiting art gallery and performance spaces, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts houses workshops, artist studios, a ceramic studio and a darkroom. Art in Our Schools, a May-long show, features the work of Pittsfield High School art and design students. Pittsfield Contemporary in August is an annual juried show of artwork by Pittsfield’ s middle and high schools.
