Open for the summer season on June 19, the property showcases the work of American abstract artists George Morris and Suzy Frelinghuysen, a new discovery of a work on paper by Morris that was commissioned by GE in 1940 to promote their new refrigerators, and the couple’ s exquisite collection of American and European Cubist art that includes works by Picasso, Braque, and Léger, as well as the original furnishings.
Get to Know George and Suzy is a self-guided tour that takes you into the lives of the couple and their paths to artistic expression, including actual audio of George’ s voice. Suzy’ s Palette, Saturdays at 9:30 a. m., is a new program in which students K-5 and local educators engage over inspiring stories of women in the arts.
The Director’ s Corner, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:15 a. m. with director and nephew Kinney Frelinghuysen, highlights paintings on view and from the collection. Exercise Your Creativity, Sundays 11 a. m. to 1 p. m., is a chance to relax and create art with no rules and no judgement.
Painting Demonstrations are held Fridays at 11 a. m. by professional artists of all genres.

This former Shaker commune closed in 1960 to reemerge as a living history museum with 20 historic buildings, working gardens, hiking trails, and exhibits that celebrate the Shaker story. An early spring favorite are baby animals in the Round Barn until May 4.
