Where:
1. Buckley Dunton Lake, October Mountain State Forest: Andre recommends Buckley Dunton Lake, located on Buckley Dunton Road in Becket. A beautiful mid-size lake, kayakers can hand launch their watercraft from the dam and fish for bullheads, pumpkinseed, shiners, pickerel, or bass.
2. Plainfield Pond, 690 MA-8A, Colrain: A 59-acre lake, Plainfield Pond is located in Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest. The town maintains both a beach and a boat launch on the south shore of the pond located on Main Street( MA- 116). Andre recommends launching from Plainfield Beach to fish for pickerel, large mouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike.
Andre’ s Why:“ It doesn’ t matter where you find yourself in the Berkshires for an outdoor activity, you can be assured that the backdrop will be breathtaking. Sometimes catching fish isn’ t even the goal … it’ s just the experience of being outside in a place so awing and beautiful! Remember that you belong … no matter what the world says … you belong!”
