Barrington Stage Company( BSC) programming this fall includes a play, conversation with playwright Benjamin Diskant, and two performances from Broadway leading lady Elizabeth Stanley.
The Weekend: A Stockbridge Story runs from September 17 to October 12. It’ s about a quick, romantic getaway. Just Beth and Tom … and his hopeless brother, Allan. Their family cabin in Stockbridge is full of memories for all of them, some wonderful and some world-ending. As Beth attempts to reconnect with her husband, Allan unexpectedly reconnects with his past, and Tom can’ t help but intervene. Stick around after the show for a moderated discussion of the play featuring select cast members on September 25. On Sunday, September 21, at 12 p. m., join BSC for an enlightening conversation with playwright Benjamin Diskant about how he brought the Berkshires to life and how this story feels so uniquely tied to Stockbridge. An Evening with Broadway Leading Lady Elizabeth Stanley will be held on September 28 and 29. Returning to Mr. Finn’ s for the first time in over 10 years, BSC’ s own Tony ® nominee will take the stage with heart, humor, and stunning vocals.

Mother Play by Paula Vogel, directed by Ariel Bock, continues through October 5 at the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre. The play follows Phyllis, a hardheaded matriarch, and her children Martha and Carl as they move into a new apartment in Washington, D. C. Spanning four decades, the play follows the family through five apartments and through many hardships, including cockroach infestations and painful conflicts. The weekend will feature four enhanced staged readings of acclaimed plays: The Price by Arthur Miller on Friday, October 10, 7 p. m.; The Sisters Rosensweig by Wendy Wasserstein on Saturday, October 11, 2 p. m.; Here There Are Blueberries by Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich on Saturday, October 11, 7 p. m.; and Roz & Ray by Karen Hartman, featuring Tony ®-nominated actor John Douglas Thompson( The Gilded Age, HBO) on Sunday, October 12, 2 p. m.

Hancock Shaker Village invites the public to its Country Fair, September 27 and 28, to spend the weekend celebrating what makes the Berkshires special: fine artisanship, local food, breathtaking beauty, exploring the trail, and family fun. This year’ s fair includes live music, workshops and demonstrations, family activities, farm animals, a farmer’ s market, craft beer, antique tractors, quilt show, and dozens of craft vendors. TurnPark will have two exhibitions and several events. John Clarke: Passing Through will be held in the TurnPark Gate House Gallery through October 31. In John Clarke ' s paintings, photography and music serve as a point of departure for creating landscapes that undulate with emotion. His work revolves around a combination of abstract drawing / painting and photography, with a firm connection to sound as a stimulus. The TurnPark Art Space exhibit will anchor Clarke ' s work in the park using the ambient sound emanating from Mass Turnpike, which abuts the property.
Martine Kaczynski: Daily Deviations will be on view in the TurnPark Garage Gallery through October 31. Deviations is a selection of work which challenges and navigates our psychological interaction with architecture and the semiotics of the constructed world. Recreating archetypal forms which stray from normal function and origin, Kaczynski’ s work examines the unstable nature of house and home, and the fragility of our perceived status and security.
Step into a world of story, sky, and spectacle with Turtle Island on October 3 at 6 p. m., an outdoor performance that brings the Haudenosaunee Creation Story to life through a giant inflatable puppet, traditional dance, and live performance.

This fall, The Mount— Edith Wharton’ s historic home in the Berkshires— has a lineup of events that celebrate literature, art, and the supernatural, including ghost tours and dramatic readings. Wharton on Wednesdays brings Edith Wharton’ s short stories to life, performed by acclaimed local actors on the Terrace of the Main House. Arrive early to enjoy refreshments from the Terrace Café as twilight sets the perfect stage. On October 8 at 5:30 p. m., The Triumph of Night will be read by Tod Randolph. House tours will be held daily through October 31. Ghost Tours will take place every Friday night in September and October, when visitors can explore the mansion by moonlight as guides share chilling tales of hauntings and unexplained phenomena that have been reported over the years. Special kids tours are also available.
Sculpture at The Mount runs through October 19 and features works of contemporary outdoor sculpture in a range of media, placed throughout the lush woods, gardens, and grounds.( See page 92.) The 2025 exhibition theme,“ Movement,” presents kinetic sculpture alongside artwork that speaks to personal transformation, cultural shifts, time, the cycles of nature and more. The Mount’ s grounds are free to the public from dawn to dusk, except during special events. Nightwood, The Mount’ s popular immersive sound and light installation, returns from November 21 to January 3. Visitors wander through a dreamlike landscape where story, sound, and setting merge into pure magic.
