There are a lot of things about NuVera Online that you may find similar to other virtual worlds. There is housing, user developers, exploration, events, and of course the social aspect that all virtual worlds are primarily known for.

Aside from being an 18 years of age only, but not a “XXX” site, what is different about NuVera Online are several elements that you may not see on the surface but soon find make a world of difference.

HOBBIES AND CRAFTING

First and foremost has to be the hobbies and crafting. While still in its infancy the hobbies and crafting elements allow users to earn TT's (Treasure Tokens) and NN's (NuVO Notes), NuVO's virtual currency, simply by collecting items such as wood, stone and cloth. You can use them to make things that you can choose to decorate your environment with or sell back to the Market for TTs that you can use to purchase other items such as rare trees, additional mannequins, telepads, sales terminals and much more.

As you level up you earn NNs which you can buy items from the user developer catalogue or purchase vehicles and other items you are interested in. You will also gain access to a hidden area that can only be reached once you have acquired level 10 in Scavenger Hunting. This opens up a special cave area to find higher level items which can be used to create better items that are worth more TTs.

Scavenger hunting is the first of three groups of hobbies planned for NuVera. Further plans are for fishing and gardening. Currently you can only get to Level 25 in the Hobbies and Crafting but the plans are already in the works for more levels.

USER DEVELOPED CONTENT

Although at first glance the user developer element of NuVera Online may seem the same as others it actually gives the developer a lot more power while still maintaining an ease of use. At first it can be overwhelming as there is so much that can be done in the editor. With the many available tutorials in the knowledge base on the website and playing around on your own it is easy to get into the swing of it.

Some of the key elements to the editor is that it is designed to more easily import models and textures, create particles without importing them (allowing for everyone to create particles, even on items not intended to have any), real world lighting, and a one click water texture that is the same water that is used in the two primary NuVera locations, Sunset Isle and Tutorial Island.

Additionally there are a lot of other things that are considered. First and foremost is that NuVera Online does not have peer review but it does have a product review system. Some of the primary things checked during the review is proper placement in the catalogue, matching images to the products, and more importantly copyright allowances. There is a no tolerance policy on using copyright images without them being Royalty Free or Creative Commons for commercial/merchant use.

User developers can also feel very secure with their models and textures as there are security measures in place to prevent any art theft. Although no plan is foolproof, the measures taken are there to ensure that it is as difficult as possible for anyone to use a model/texture ripping program or to even try to use the files that are installed on their system. The files are password encoded and reformatted to a file that is completely unusable anywhere.
