The Central Statistics Office (CSO) is pleased
to have launched three statistically-based
competitions for young people. These three
competitions take place annually and are aimed at encouraging participants to
work as a team and make use of statistics and statistical methods.
The John Hooper Medal for Statistics is a Statistical Poster competition for
students, aimed at encouraging the analysis, interpretation and communication
of statistics or statistical information. For further information please see:

The APPS4GAPS competition is an App design
competition for students and non-students. The
competition is aimed at encouraging participants to
create an application using freely available Open Data.
Award for best use
of CSO data
Awarded at BT Young
Scientist & Technology
Exhibition 2017. This award
is for the most innovative
use, or potential use, of CSO
data. Be it in statistical
analyses, statistical
processes or statistical
outputs, be they scientific or
mathematical, a piece of
research, a visualisation or a
data map, the development
of a device, a software
application or the use of
CSO data in any other
innovative way.
