WEAR & CARE
How to keep your wardrobe in a great shape? A proper care for your clothes makes them look better and last longer. Follow the tips and tricks from professionals.
Be gentle to expensive fabrics
Cashmere is best washed by hand. Use cool tap water and a gentle detergent, then lay the cashmere garment on a thick bath towel and allow it to air dry. Silk garments need dry cleaning. However, some may be carefully washed by hand in warm water with small amounts of a mild detergent.
Swimwear needs a special care too
Wash your swimwear by hand and let it air dry. The washing machine can damage its elasticity. Only at the end of the summer, wash your swimwear in a lingerie bag washing on a gentle cycle.
Cashmere Quality Test
The thicker the knit, the denser its gauge, which means there is more cashmere in it. Gently stretch a section of the sweater- it should ping back into its shape. A lower-quality cash mere won’ t. Hold it up to the light and you shouldn’ t see much sky. The best cashmere, though made from the finest hair, has a density to it. Some great cashmere with a superior weave is usually made in Scotland or Italy.
Love your lace lingerie
Washing it in hands will massively increase the lifespan of your undergarments. If you wash them in your machine, even on a gentle cycle, they will lose their shape quickly. Cotton bras can be washed in machine in cold water in a mesh zipper bag.
Find a Good Tailor
Nothing raises the quality of moderately priced clothes more than having them altered to suit your shape. A tailor or dressmaker should know your body and your taste.
Check the Inside
A garment’ s lining is often a designer’ s calling card, and a good way to judge quality. A well-crafted lining is a sign that the whole piece has been sewn with care.
Stop sweaters from shedding
To stop angora or mohair from shedding, fold the garment and place it into a zip-top bag and freeze it for at least three hours.
