A Firefighter Interview Training Seminar hosted by Tempe Fire Department was held on June 1, 2013 at the East Valley Institute of Technology. More than 230 young men and women showed up to participate in the four hour class led by Tempe Assistant Fire Chief John Valenzuela. For just a $ 25 donation, the firefighter hopefuls were able to learn first hand what they should be doing to best prepare for the firefighting career hiring process. The event raised more than $ 5,800 and was a huge success. Event attendees had great reviews of the content covered in the seminar, and we wish them well in their career endeavours! Thank you to Chief Valenzeula and the Tempe Fire Department for hosting this great seminar and partnering with the 100 Club!

Fallen Heroes Golf Tournament took place on May 11 at the stunning Seven Canyons Golf Resort in Sedona, AZ. Hosted by the City of Cottonwood Police and Fire Departments, hundreds of golfers came to show their support to their community and the 100 Club of Arizona. The tournament raised $ 8,000 to stand behind the men and women who stand behind the badge. Thank you to Brandon Wacker, the event hosts and all those who donated and came out to show their support. The 10th Annual Firefighter Poker Run was hosted by the East Valley Firefighter Charities, kicking off at Superstition Harley Davidson in Apache Junction with a pancake breakfast. Hundreds of bikers participated in the 223-mile motorcycle ride, which stopped at give different locations: Drift Inn Saloon in Globe, Oracle Inn Steakhouse in Oracle, River Bottom Grill in Florence and ending at Cactus Moon Sports Grill in Mesa. Proceeds benefited Boots for Our Troops and the 100 Club of Arizona. At the end of the day, the event raised $ 5,000 for each organization. Thank you to the East Valley Firefighter Charities, Firehouse Subs, Galloway Asset Management, Superstition Harley-Davidson, OldsKool and LawTigers for sponsoring the event.

10 Behind theBadge

The 4th Annual Battle of the Badges championship game was held at Grand Canyon University on Sunday, June 23. Ten teams( 5 police and 5 fire) participated in the preliminary tournament at North High School on June 8. The final four to make it to the championship were: Goodyear Police Department, Mesa Police Department, and two Phoenix Fire Department teams. Congratulations to Phoenix Fire Department’ s Team Patsy for winning the championship title! Thank you to Nate Roberts, 1-800-BoardUp, Grand Canyon University, Seamless Services, Arcadia Health & Wellness and Homes for Heroes for sponsoring this event!
