The power of brand consistency One brand , One team , One goal

Brand consistency is vital to the global success of any business . It breeds confidence and builds trust and familiarity between a business and its clients . The project team at the Plattekloof Retirement Village site understand the power of brand consistency and in light of this visited three NMC building sites in Cape Town .
Visiting the NMC trio in Cape Town ; KPMG , V & A Waterway House and Silo 6 , the Plattekloof team collectively saw the impact applying the NMC values of pride , discipline , trust and people growth have on site operations . It was clear to them how ensuring brand consistency throughout the site from the signage to the manner in which staff communicate translates into a successful project .
For the team , who hails largely from the Gauteng region , the aim of these visits was to ensure brand consistency and create synergy with the local teams .
The team share how they experienced the local site visits :
“ It was refreshing to see the NMC pride in action . The cohesion between departments and how this translates into good housekeeping and seamless project operations was impressive .” Felicia Manunga , Junior QS .
“ There is great value in sharing knowledge and expertise across sites . In order to succeed and maintain brand consistency we need to operate as one team , representing one brand . The support from top management was visible and reassuring .” Ben Strauss , Senior Site Manager .
“ All the sites we visited have an excellent team structure , their standard of work , staff interactions and positive team spirit was truly inspiring . Sterling examples of what the NMC brand should represent .” Johan Serfontein , General Foreman .
“ It was good to interact with the Plattekloof team , as we are using the same subcontractors we could share our experiences . The team was also able to identify branding opportunities for the Plattekloof site . We let the guys know that they can count on us for support moving forward .” Chris McMinn , Contracts Manager .
Completion date for the Plattekloof project is June 2017 . The team has been working hard to keep on-track with the programme despite the treacherous winter rains and are making good progress .

M B S A a w a r d w i n n e r s share their winning formula
According to Nicola Grobler , Senior EHS Officer on both Silo 6 and V & A Waterway House , the winning formula to ensuring your site is safe and compliant is most definitely team work .
Both sites are fortunate to have the impeccable support from management , sub-contractors and employees when it comes to safety . This enhances on-site safety management as well as operational efficiency .
Nicola shares some additional tips to maintaining a safe and compliant site :
Training is an important part of any project and it needs to be an ongoing process .
NMC North facilitating sanitation upliftment in Free State
NMC North , a division of the NMC Construction Group , was awarded the R130 million Senekal Bucket Eradication Programme .
This project is the second project of this nature in the Free State , NMC North is currently executing the R121 million Ficksburg Bucket Eradication scheduled for a September 2017 completion .
B oth projects form part of the Department of Water and Sanitation ’ s
Bucket Eradication Programme which is prioritised for the North West , Eastern Cape , Northern Cape and Free State provinces .
The primary focus is to eradicate the bucket toilet system used in formal and informal areas and replacing this system with the installation of adequate water borne sanitation systems .
The Senekal project significantly boosts NMC North ’ s current order book for the
2016 / 2017 financial year .
The scope of works comprises civils services including construction of a sewer network as part of the bucket eradication programme , grey water supply systems as well as grey water storage reservoirs .
The client for the Senekal project is Vharanani Properties . There is great potential for future business with the client in regions stretching from the Northern Cape to Gauteng and Limpopo .
Take immediate action when you see safety deviations on site ( even if you are not a safety officer , report it ). Safety is everyone ’ s responsibility .
Following a visit to the V & A Waterway House site here is what Louise Fenner-Solomon , Publisher of Architect and Builder Magazine SA had to say , “ From the minute I arrived it was quite obvious that safety issues were taken very seriously and had buy-in from all levels of staff . The site seemed well organised and efficient . It was impressive to see that standards seem to be maintained consistently across the board .”
With team work and correct training every NMC site could be a potential MBSA Safety Competition winner .
