The Believe sign sits on the wall near the entrance of the theatre building all year long . Overtime , it gets worn , symbolizing the team ’ s success , as if they continue to advance from competition to competition , they continue to ht the believe sign every practice .
“ That year , we believed in ourselves , each other , our story , and that the little things mattered during rehearsal , and in our competition season ,” Vanessa said . “ We didn ’ t want to take anything for granted as we didn ’ t know how long our season would be .” The tradition continues today , three years later , and has evolved into an essential part of their daily practices .
“ It ’ s not just something we say or a sign on the wall that we slap ,” senior , Noah Harris , said . “ It ’ s a feeling , just something that whenever we see that word we know we are in it together .”
The word could be found in many places on their state trip : written on balloons , iced on cookies , designed on t-shirts , and pinned to dress clothes .
“ Remembering to believe in each other everyday was what got us to state , because without each other , we would be nothing ” senior , Angelo Warden , said .“ So , at state we had the believe sign practically everywhere , reminding us of how we got there : by doing it for the person next to us and truly believing in our story .” Throughout this year ’ s OAP season , the group has amassed support from communities and schools across the state , set new standards for success , and made history more than once .
“ To believe is to know that it ’ s the little things we do that make us different , that everyday we grow and get better , that everyone ’ s goal on the team is to get better for the person next to them , and that success isn ’ t measured in trophies or medals , but in memories and pride in yourself ,” Kevin said . “ That ’ s what it means to believe .”
“ Believe is it ’ s about constantly putting others before yourself and pushing yourself for the betterment of the group .” - Zoe Hampton
“ The word believe means two trust one another and it shows that i believe that we can do anything as long as we are together . This is a family and we believe that . That ’ s what it means .” -Noah Harris
“ Believe means to keep going , even when the times are hard and it seems like you can ’ t go on ! It ’ s a reminder that while things may be difficult , as long as you BELIEVE , you got it !” - Hannah Bryan
“ To believe means to know that what you ’ re doing means something . That it will not only help yourself but help others . That what you ’ re doing can truly change the world .” -Gabe Hammonds
