Thirteen students , staff , and parent chaperons were able to expand their knowledge of the world through a tour of Italy over spring break .
“ We could not have asked for a better experience ,” media specialist Melissa Hughes said . “ The students were all open to trying new things and were very kind and conscientious of those around them .”
There were multiple trips considered for the tour but the tour of Italy was finally decided on . They were able to see a huge chunk of Italy from March 8 through March 15 , led by Melissa Hughes .
“ The Colosseum was the sight I wanted to see the most , and it did not disappoint ,” Testing coordinator Kristie Roark said . “ Looking at the craftsmanship of the building helped me realize that ancient civilizations were incredibly intelligent .”

BHS students travel across the world , exploring Italy ’ s wonders .
The first three days were spent in Rome , where they got to visit the Colosseum , Roman Forum , Trevi Fountain , Pantheon , Piazza Navona , the Spanish steps , Vatican City , the Sistine Chapel , Roman catacombs and lastly St . Paul ’ s Cathedral .
“ The best thing I got to see was the art and the churches in Rome ,” Junior Myra Smith said . “ I think everyone should have the opportunity to visit Rome and see the culture that they have there .”
The group stands together for a group picture overlooking the city .
