Explore the Adventures in Year 4
Tiara Mirchandani, Year 4
The Year 4s have had an exciting experience while
journeying to the past as significant explorers and
adventurers during their Exit Point.
Year 4 students spent days preparing for the Exit
Point to their unit – Adventurers and Explorers. With
blue boards filled with pictures of astronauts,
backpackers, mountaineers, scuba divers and sailors,
there is no way that they would not be ready for any
navigation from the start to the end of the Exit point.
Parents and students were informed of discoveries
and adventures, from the earliest years to the most
recent. Students who came as Neil Armstrong,
William Beebe and Buzz Aldrin and many others,
shared essential information of what they did to
shape history. Many parents were impressed as they
watched their children communicate their learning
confidently in front of an audience.
Elements of Art, Drama, ICT and Language Arts were
used as visual tools to help parents be better
informed of what students had learned in other IPC
subjects such as History. Using their research skills,
students identified moments in history when
adventurers and explorers reached their goal.
“I think it’s interesting what kids remember. They
recall their explorer’s birthdays but not always what
made them significant in history,” said Mr Steven,
Year 4 IPC Teacher. Year 4s appreciate what Mr
Steven emphasises – significance on top of dates.
