Parent Profile: Mrs Megan Moore
Simran Mahtani, Year 6
Mrs Megan is not only our Head of School, but is also a parent to Connor Moore, Year 8.
Throughout her life, Mrs Megan has lived all over Eastern Australia because of her father's jobs. She
grew up with two siblings; she was the eldest amongst them. Mrs Megan's personality has always been
outgoing from young because she got to make many new friends from various schools.
Since Mrs Megan kept moving, she has been to 10 different schools during her primary and secondary
years. Until Year 4, Mrs Megan struggled in Math, but she had a really good teacher who taught her
different strategies that helped her improve tremendously. By the end of that year, Mrs Megan was top in
the class in all of her subjects. For Years 9 and 10, Mrs Megan went to boarding school. She was always
good at sports, especially sprint and swimming. Like many students, she always loved school, and was
always the first student at the bus stop.
Mrs Megan has always lived by two mottos in life. One of them is "to have a go at everything no matter if I
am good at it or not." This was how she discovered her passion in swimming during her first swimming
carnival in Year 4. The second rule in life for Mrs Megan is to make the best decisions for her family, the
people around her and herself. She believes that if your heart or conscience tells you a decision is right, it
will be.
Mrs Megan's biggest challenge has been the birth of her second son who has a severe disability. As a
parent, expecting such a thing to happen isn't possible, it takes many years to balance care for your other
children and self when a lot of your energy is taken up by one of your children. She is very thankful that
her husband is such a great father because he has let her continue her career here and in Australia while
he takes primary care of their sons. She is really looking forward to going back and being with her family
full time again.
Mrs. Megan absolutely loves spending time with her family and friends, swimming and watching television
on the couch with her husband. She has just started running and loves that as well. She loves shopping
for shoes too! As Mrs Megan has said many times, she loves Beacon Academy. She has always enjoyed
working with Mr Richard to make Beacon Academy a great place to live and learn.
Mrs Megan has enjoyed so many moments at Beacon Academy, but the first day of this year stood out as
her favourite day at work. Watching the students and parents eyes light up as they saw the school for the
first time was very rewarding to her. Apart from that day, Mrs Megan's passion for swimming has made
her wait three years for the first ever swimming carnival.
Mrs Megan has worked with Mr Richard for
about three years and will definitely miss
working with him everyday. She says she has
never worked with someone so well and that
they have learned so much about each other.
Of course, she also misses her fellow leaders,
Mr Aryo and Mrs Maggie. She will miss the
teachers too, most of whom she has recruited
for the school. She has said this multiple
times but this is the most amazing group of
staff and teachers whom she has worked
with. Most importantly she will miss the
students who she has watched grow up and
develop a love for Beacon. She has always
been loved by everyone and will definitely be
remembered by the whole Beacon Family.
