Be Made Whole 6 | Page 10

You have to have balance in your Christian walk. Sure, as a Christian the Spirit of God dwells within and you must have a personal relationship with God through Christ Jesus. However, no one is an island and each of us is a member of the Body of Christ. It’s important to have personal prayer and Bible time with the Lord, but don’t neglect serving in a local church and fellowshipping with other believers.

My credentials have granted me access to well-educated professionals and I use those opportunities to live a Christian life before them and share my faith.

While growing up, I attended church sometimes. I believed that God existed but did not understand about Jesus. My life took a dramatic turn when I almost died in a car accident at the age of 19. I realized that youth did not mean I was immortal. Many people ministered to me with the love of God and I decided to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was thirsty for Him and He did and continues to fulfill my desire to know Him. I compare my journey to developing a precious gem. It starts off as a lump of coal but the end product reflects the beauty of the creator. By enduring the pressures and heat of life, I am being transformed into someone that better reflects the goodness of God. I know Him to be my healer, my sustainer, my deliverer and my provider. He loves me perfectly and I’m growing daily.

Tell me about your spiritual journey

Who inspires you?

So many women have inspired me! I watch and glean from the awesome women that I meet and those in my family. It’s so important that all women are secure and confident in who they are in Christ. You never know whose watching and how you can be a blessing to them. In addition to the women that I have met throughout my life, I have to mention a very special person to me. As a child, my Uncle John Wilson inspired me to excel in my education. He had a challenging life and is no longer here but the seeds of his love and encouragement bear fruit in my life.

How did you make the switch from education to law, or did you?

I think that teaching is a part of me. In college and law school, I had an opportunity to teach the Word. I stopped teaching English but continued teaching the Word.

How do you balance teaching, preaching, and practicing Law?

Work-life balance is so important for everyone. In the midst of pouring out to others and meeting deadlines, it’s so important to have personal and play time. I have to set a schedule but still be flexible. Sometimes I think I actually thrive under pressure and have to resist the temptation to procrastinate. Also, I recognize the different seasons in my life. When my schedule is slow and I have time to rest, I take advantage of that time. In a season of short deadlines and a busy schedule, I just stay focused and press forward.

share with other women who have a passion to teach or practice law?

Whether you want to teach or practice law, you must yield your will to the Lord and trust His timing. Ask God for provision and look for opportunities for scholarships, grants or if you job has tuition reimbursement. Write your vision down and pray over it and seek mentors in the specific field. I always wanted to attend law school, but told God that I would give up that desire if it wasn’t His will for me. In His time, God fulfilled my desire and was faithful to see me through the journey. Since I started the journey with Him, I was able to rely and lean on Him throughout the process. You must preserver and have faith. I did not pass the bar exam the first time but I continued to press and God blessed me. You must stay open to the direction of God. I planned to practice criminal law, but the Lord led me to work for federal agencies in a position where I was not practicing. I still have a rewarding and successful career. If you desire to teach, think about the awesome impact that you will make on the lives of so many people. I was a teacher because there was a need and on my last day in the classroom I had an opportunity to minister Christ to two young ladies. Glory to God!

Tell me about your ministry to women and what is your ministry called?

The Lord has given me a desire to help women become whole. We can and should be prosperous in all areas of lives: relationships, marriages, finances, health, emotions and mind but it’s a process. The goal is to minister the Love of God to women through a variety of channels. I have facilitated book clubs, sponsored trips, held prayer circles, provide many one-on-one conversations and ministered the Word. So many women both Christians and non-Christians need to hear the Word and the Love of God. As I continue to yield to the Lord, He is guiding me to develop Whole Woman Ministries.
