A.C. Reynolds High Cheerleading Pride:
Four Consecutive State Championships
A.C. Reynolds High is no stranger to state titles, but the Rockets’
Cheerleading Team alone has brought home an impressive 7
state titles in the last 12 years! In fact, these athletic young
women have won for 4 consecutive years in either the NC
Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championships or the
NC High School Athletic Association Championships!
“These girls bleed green and gold for their team, school and
community,” beams Head Coach Tammy Robinson, who has
worked with the team for the past nine years. “They are true
examples of what it means to be a Rocket at A.C. Reynolds
High School.”
For decades, the mature program has been deeply rooted
in school tradition and senior leadership. This year, the
accomplished team has three cheerleaders that are four-time
state champions: Shelby Voss, Krystin West, and Jessie Israel.
Teamwork is the key to a succesful routine
and season.
“Cheerleading has taught me the importance of leadership, respect and sympathy,” explains Voss, a
senior captain. “I will carry these valuable lessons with me for the rest of my life.”
Krystin West is also a senior captain and gives credit to the program for teaching her to work hard
for a goal alongside others. West says, “Cheerleading at Reynolds has given me the opportunity to
make friendships that will last long past high school. It has also showed me a lot about being a team
player and sacrificing for the good of your team.”
The cheer program at A.C. Reynolds not only excels in competition but also in the classroom. The
team actively supports school athletic teams and volunteers in the community through organizations
like Hospice, Hope Chest for Women, and March of Dimes.
“Our coaching staff could not be more proud of these young athletes,” says Robinson with a smile.
