Mr. Waters stands surrounded by familiar faces and his
state-of-the-art bus.
The Rockets’ Bus Driver of the Year

Throughout A.C. Reynolds High School, Mr.
Edgar Waters is not an unfamiliar name. He
has not only been our bus driver for 25 years,
but he is also a valued custodian. He is a “hero
every single day,” said Mrs. Doris Sellers,
Reynolds’ Principal. His superpowers are not
limited to getting students to and from school
safely and making our school immaculate; he
also brightens everyone’s day with kindness
and compassion.
Waters may not be a teacher at Reynolds but
he teaches students valuable life lessons.
Through his actions and words, Mr. Waters
models how to be kind and spread positivity.
When you see him in the hallways, you do not
pass by without Mr. Waters going out of his way
to smile and greet you.
Mr. Waters waits for students to board his bus.
Mrs. Canda Molinari, an English teacher, said,
“When he says hello every morning, it brightens
my day.” taking bus driver training. Never did he think that
suggestion would lead to this many years of service
and dedication.
In October of 2016, surrounded by his family, Waters
was presented the Tracey Lea Calhoun Bus Driver of
the Year award for his outstanding work. Not only
does Mr. Waters teach students life lessons, he is
also an inspiration to persevere through hardship.
When the Kellwood Company plant closed many
years ago and Waters lost his job, his wife suggested Mr. Waters may have been surprised to receive this
award, but our students and faculty were not. They
know he always makes a point to make everyone
feel important. He deserves this award because of
his hard work and endless dedication to our school.
Thank you, Mr. Waters, for continuing to make
Reynolds High a better place.
