Emergency Kit

In the future, we have to be more prepared if such a calamity ever happens again. And what makes you more prepared than an app on your smartphone? Nothing! Lol. Well, this is a gadget blog, so what do you expect? Haha.

Okay, I’m using a Lumia 720. Well, it has a Windows Phone 8 OS so I’m showing you a Windows Phone 8 OS app that’s very useful in times of calamities and emergencies. And it’s called the Emergency Kit.

When you first open the Emergency Kit app you are asked to complete your emergency profile which contains your contact information. You can also add emergency contacts that can be dialed from the app’s main page (I have below my mom’s and my sister’s). Since this is a public blog, I’m just going to censor my address and my family members’ numbers, for privacy reasons. Lol.

The Kit contains different how to’s when you have allergic reactions, snake bites, broken bones and even how to jump start your car. Emergency Kit has some nice features.

Once your all set, you will have access to the other pages of Emergency Kit which includes:

The page in red (below) has different options that includes a Share My Location tool that will let send your GPS location via SMS or email, activate your Windows Phone screen as an emergency light, activate a siren alarm (or should I say, the ambulance noise, lol), send SOS via screen flashes or audible beeps, and purchase the Unlock Features for the app .

Other pages will provide you with details on how to do various first aids. It includes CPR, Poison response, and excessive bleeding. The page also contains information on jump starting your car, building a first aid kit and Global emergency services telephone numbers.

InstaPatrol App

It’s the Instagram equivalent of a homegrown, crowd sourced, location-based app for relevant info such as an accident along EDSA, a pothole near Eastwood City, a fire in Makati City, or flooding in Ortigas. InstaPatrol allows you to share posts on Facebook and Twitter and comment on other users’ updates.

MMDA App

The go-to road companion for smartphone users in Metro Manila. A certified Pinoy app. The MMDA app is handy for viewing traffic conditions along major roads in the metro. Its rise to must-have status is perhaps a testimony to the weekday crawl which has become part of our daily commute.
