ROUND ELEVEN PREVIEWS
WOMEN
MACKAY METEORETTES
VS USC RIP CITY
The Mackay Meteorettes sit third
on the ladder after 10 rounds and
are closing in on a top 2 finish. The
Meteorettes had a tight 2-point
win over the Cairns Dolphins on
Sunday thanks to a brilliant fourth
quarter effort. Micaela Cocks and
Chevennah Paalvast top scored
with 20 points each, whilst Na-
deen Payne and Tami Willey both
got 11 rebounds each. The Rip had
an indifferent double-header last
weekend. After being crushed by
the Spartans on Friday night, they
bounced back strongly the fol-
lowing night at home by defeating
Toowoomba by 25 points. On Fri-
day Leah Scott led the Rip with 19
points and 6 rebounds in a badly
beaten side. Scott backed up her
performance the following night top
scoring with 25 points against the
Mountaineers. Hannah Beede was
a strong support for Scott scoring
17 points and 8 rebounds in the
win. Mackay need this win to stay
in touch with the top 2 and they
should get it done at home.
GOLD COAST ROLLERS
VS LOGAN THUNDER
The Gold Coast Rollers remain
winless after 11 games in the QBL
this season. The Rollers faced Rock-
hampton in Round 10 and weren’t
able to stop Shanavia Dowdell who
racked up 44 points for the Cy-
clones. Ashli Payne top scored for
the Rollers with 24 points, whilst
Siarn Woods and Jessica Renata
scored 18 and 14 respectively. The
Rollers will need more scoring op-
tions from a team averaging just
over 50 points a game this season.
Logan are flying after winning their
10th straight game on the weekend.
The Thunder took apart the Cy-
clones at home with another brilliant
performance from Kate Gaze who
led the team in points (29), rebounds
(10) and assists (8). Miela Goo
