BUGAMBILIA FESTIVAL
May 9, 10 11, 2014
The Bugambilia Festival is a project of the Puerto Vallarta Garden Club, which
in its four-year history, has planted approximately 200 Primavera and Amapas
trees and at least 1,000 bougainvillea. It is our mission to beautify and protect
the environment through civic planting projects. Our vision is to enhance the
natural beauty of Puerto Vallarta for the benefit of the community at large and to
stimulate business and tourism.
It is the goal of the festival committee to build the Bugambilia Festival into
an internationally recognized Floral and Cultural Festival thus becoming
an economic and tourism generator for the month of May. Our decision to
have the festival in May had numerous reasons. The primary being that May
is traditionally the second worst month for tourism in Puerto Vallarta. May
is typically, climactically, a beautiful month with trees and bougainvillea in
full bloom. It also made sense to tie our floral festival into the Mother’s Day
weekend. Thus, it is our plan to have the festival during the Mother’s Day
weekend every year.
This year, the second year of the Bugambilia Festival, we will have events at
Parque Lázaro Cárdenas, a parade along the Maleçon and events at Oscar’s
Restaurant on the Isla Cuale. A more detailed event schedule will be published
the first of April.
