line, Rob hung on for dear life as Kieron scrambled for the net, she then erupted through the surface shaking her head furiously, Rob praying she stays pinned and after a few minutes and what seemed liked an eternity, landed another beauty of 2.8kg.
By now I was sure that we were done for the day, when Kieron switched back to the spinnerbait and got smashed again. A nice 1.8kg to end the day, or was it?
The storm clouds were now moving in fast and we were fortunate enough to have been able to stay out on the dam for the allotted 3 hours. Just as we were about to pack up, Kieron hooked another 1kg fish to end what was a remarkable 3 hours of bass fishing at its best. Kieron gave her a little smooch goodbye and carefully released the fish to fight another day.
The day ended with Kieron and Rob finishing the day with a bag consisting of 5 fish weighing in at 1.5kg, 1.8kg, 2.0kg, 2.4kg, and a whopper 2.8kg to bring their tally to a massive 10.5kg's in a total.
3 hours, 3 baits and an absolutely astounding experience. The most successful bait for the day was the spinner-bait and closely followed by the Zara Spook. Target areas were main lake points on the wind blown banks.
All in All it turned out to be an awesome outing on the "Dragon Lake" and it certainly lived up to its reputation.
Rob and Kieron did not disappoint, showing exactly why they represented S.A. at the 2013 World Champs in Spain.
Thank you Rob Fisher and Kieron Samkin for affording Bass Digest the amazing opportunity to accompany both of you onto the water and and for sharing your knowledge with our readers.
