would be the appropriate time to stand up and cast a line into the water – REALLY??? JUST LIKE THAT?? I cannot even see the water and I have not cast a rod in years. With some quick and very rough instructions on how to “toss a frog”, I manage to get the Doobas (Top Water Frog) about 6 meters from the boat. As I am feeling my way round the odd contraption called a reel, I feel a small tug – Can it be? Not seeing the action and being completely unfamiliar to the tap tap hit motion, I just keep fumbling with the “handle” cursing under my breath about how I would rather be dry and having a large glass of wine. Lost in thought, I feel another tap, then another and suddenly the rod gets heavy and starts to move on its own. The panic sets in as I realise that there is a real living creature attached to a sharp metal object tied onto a long stick with a piece of water string which I am holding….What do I do?

The best thing I ever could have – I threw it at my husband!

Needless to say, after my hubby repeatedly conned me into fishing, I am now hooked and count the minutes till I can get on the water again!
