Child CPR Criteria (1-8years)
CHILD CPR CRITERIA 1. Recognises the need for prompt intervention 2. Completes a safety assessment 3. Checks response - shout or tap gently DO NOT SHAKE 4. Check for signs of normal breathing - should not take longer than 10 seconds 5. Ensures assistance is called for or send for help 6. Checks and opens the airway (chin lift/head tilt/jaw thrust, avoiding excessive extension) 7. Ensures child is child on firm surface 8. Locates correct hand position in the centre of the chest - heal of one hand 9. Commences 30 compressions 10. Correct chest compression depth (1/3 chest depth, approx. 5cm) 11. Correct rate - 100 compressions per minute 12. After 30 compressions commences 2 ventilations, each over 1 second 13. Does not interrupt CPR to check for circulation unless victim responds (Based on NZRC, 2011) PASS FAIL
