GAME NIGHT ADVENTURES
AN OPEN CONCEPT BASEMENT OFFERS THE PERFECT
PLACE TO GATHER ON GAME NIGHT.
This bold basement space is
located in the home of a family
of four who are all major sports
fans. They love to entertain and
often host large gatherings on
game day. We wanted to
create a space that could
accommodate a large group
while ensuring that whether you
cared about watching the game
or not, you'd be part of the
social gathering. To accomplish
this, the design was planned to
place the theatre, which is

open concept space together
with the bar and game room
areas. The large projection TV
screen is positioned so that it is
visible from all areas.

design but didn't want the
basement to feel old-school or
outdated so the design scheme
combines classic, timeless
details with modern accents for
a contemporary edge. The
plumbing fixtures, door and
cabinet hardware are very
modern which you wouldn’t
often see in a traditional interior.
The ceiling, one of the amazing
details in this space, features
trim in a very classic shape but
with unexpected twists like
square edge reveal details and
contrasting color tones. The wall
panels are also created using
mouldings. Aside from painting,
adding moldings is one of the
least expensive ways to dress up
a space. In this case, we used
applied moldings and the
painter did a Level 5 finish on
