RELAXING OASIS A BRIGHT AND AIRY BASEMENT IS STAGED TO SHOWCASE A MORE FUNCTIONAL LIVING SPACE. This small basement was originally being used mostly for storage and exercise equipment. The home was being staged to sell and the goal was to show potential buyers how it could be used to its full design potential. The basement offered the benefit of having high ceilings and plenty of windows so the layout was planned to keep that open and airy feeling with the sofa placed against the wall. It is the first thing you see when you come down the stairs. When designing any room in your home, especially a basement with less natural light, the most important thing is to have good lighting. If you don't have pot lights, you want to make sure that you have enough table and floor lamps and consider hanging a ceiling fixture if there's enough space. In this basement, the main source of light is the pot lights but desk lamps were also added to provide additional task lighting for each desk.
