BASEBALL VICTORIA - COACHING ACCREDITATION July 2014 | Page 10
Inclusion Spectrum
The inclusion spectrum is an activity central approach to including people with
disabilities in physical activity and sport.
It focuses on five alternative modes of activity delivery that encourage teachers to think
in terms of changing the activity in order to promote inclusion, rather than adopting an
impairment focus.
Once the parameters within which an individual can safely participate have been
established — in consultation with parents and carers, other teachers, therapists and the
person themselves — medical information can be put to one side. This enables coaches to
concentrate on their strength — activities.
