Our fundraising
Santander flame burns bright
350 Santander employees cycled, ran and kayaked across the UK in
June as part of the organisation’s Flame Relay.
Teams travelled over 2,000 miles
and raised an incredible £140,000
for Barnardo’s and Age UK,
through sponsorship and
fundraising activities such as
Persian themed lunches, football’s
Euro 2016 quizzes and raffles.
Highlights included members of
Santander’s Executive Committee
walking 30 miles from Newport to
Caerphilly, a 50-strong team cycling
from Glasgow to Milton Keynes,
and a team jogging around Jersey
visiting the Barnardo’s Plan B
service on route. Various Flame Relay
events secured coverage in local
publications including the South
Wales Argus, Plymouth Herald and
Edinburgh Evening News.
The partnership with Santander
has now raised over £500,000 for
Barnardo’s and Age UK, helping
vulnerable younger and older
people have confidence in the
future, whatever challenges they
face today.

The Banking on Barnardo’s event
took place at the Merchant Taylor’s

made possible by the generous
