Things become tough; Linlay decided to help his father, who was by then selling food on the
streets of Trou Aux Biches.
“We were able to upgrade the business, from a trolley that we used to move from home every
morning and back in the afternoon, to a permanent stall that we have now. My whole family is
sustained by this business, and that in itself is fulfilling.”
“I love what I do because every day I get to interact with different people from diverse
cultures. But it is not easy. I have to wake up at 5 am every morning, six days a week, to buy all
supplies needed for the day.’’
Despite these challenges, he is always pushed to work harder by his three children.
“I want the best for them. I don’t want them to end up doing the same thing I am doing
because it is really hard. I want them to get the best education because it is only through it that
they can survive hardships in life.’’
“But that is life. I am content with what I have.”
