Art is freedom. It’s acceptance in its purest form. I feel as though it’s the world that I can escape to and be free with my thoughts. For me, art is one thing that you can carry with you wherever you go. People break promises, people disappoint, you disappoint people, but art is there, forever. It’s my definition of paradise on earth. Art is like the silence that becomes so loud that you can’t ignore anymore. For me, art is the only thing that any other person cannot take away from you or taint. At any point in time, I know there can’t be another Pamela Pusumane or someone who can do my art the way I do it. I also know I can’t do art or say my poems the way any other poet does. Art is like fingerprints, we all have different ones. So I don’t spend time trying to be someone I am not. I just represent myself. My art. My identity. And everything falls into place. I feel people know me like that, the opinionated girl and trust me; I would rather be that. I believe a lot of people like to remain fluid so they could fit into boxes people put up for them. People like to hold back because there is a lot of judgement and criticism. I refuse to live my life that way; I like people knowing where I stand, what I value and who I am. My opinionated art is my masterpiece to the world, and I will continue to define what’s my definition of a masterpiece in every poem I write. 25
