More than the
sum of its parts
The Banking Association has continually
adapted to perform its functions.
T
he Banking Association South Africa is the successor
to the Council of South African Banks (COSAB),
formed from the merger of four separate associations
which came together in 1992.
These were the Association of Mortgage Lenders,
the Merchant Bankers Association, the Clearing Bankers Association
and the Association of General Banks. But as the financial sector
evolved, it was felt that COSAB’s committee-driven structure was
increasingly becoming inappropriate.
