I am the Coordinating Lead Author for Chapter 4, " Adaptation options and conditions for accelerating action " in Working Group II. This chapter is the forward-looking chapter for climate adaptation and looks at the effectiveness and feasibility of adaptation options under different scenarios. It focuses on systems and sectors and how different adaptation options might fare in a changing climate. It is a very exciting chapter as it can inform adaptation decisions at all scales and really provide new information on how to make decisions under uncertainty. We have a great global team with diverse expertise who are all experts in different aspects of adaptation.
Johanna Nalau, WGII, Chapter 4: Adaptation options and conditions for accelerating action
Reducing emissions from the transport sector is a vitally important issue in addressing climate change. The Transport and Mobility Services and Systems chapter of the IPCC’ s Seventh Assessment Report will play a critical role in assessing existing scientific, legal, and policy literature. I will be writing this chapter alongside a strong multidisciplinary author team. I may also participate and contribute to cross-chapter and cross-working group discussions and materials.
Md Saiful Karim, WGIII, Chapter 11: Transport and mobility services and systems
The next few years will be quite a whirlwind, based on my experience with the previous Assessment Report. Remote meetings have already started in the lead-up to the first in-person meeting, and with the juggling of Lead Authors in all corners of the globe, I am getting back into the timezone chaos and sleep impacts! The timing of this Assessment Report is critical, with the next Global Stocktake happening towards the end of the cycle, so our efforts are even more important to ensure we assess the incredible depth of knowledge on climate and human health. One area I am particularly passionate about is supporting our colleagues in underrepresented areas such as the Pacific, where so much is understood about the health impacts of— and responses to— climate change, but this doesn’ t always reach the peer-reviewed research.
