David Grimes
President of the World Meteorological Organization
I would like to congratulate the Australian Meteorological and
Oceanographic Society on the occasion of its 30th anniversary,
marking three decades of service to Australia and the larger
global community. I thank the Society for inviting me to
participate in the “Science for Life” Symposium, which offered
stimulating presentations and discussions on scientific advances
in meteorology and oceanography. Global hydro-meteorological
cooperation is essential to ensure we can all meet the growing
demands for sound science, observations, seamless and
integrated predictions of climate, water, and weather to inform
decision making. As the President of the WMO, I welcome the
AMOS community’s invaluable contribution to our global climate,
water and weather enterprise for many years to come.
Ellie Highwood
President of the Royal Meteorological Society
On behalf of the Royal Meteorological Society, we are delighted
to congratulate AMOS on their 30th Anniversary. As President,
it was an absolute pleasure to be involved in the celebrations in
Melbourne in August 2017. Not only was it fascinating to see the
development of the Society over the past 30 years, but the science
symposium was thought provoking. I made many new friends,
and particularly enjoyed meeting the early career scientists. I
would personally like to thank AMOS for their hospitality, and
on behalf of the Society we look forward to many more years of
working together.
