New look, old editor

Hello, and welcome to the new look BAMOS for 2017! We've made a few changes to the layout and structure of the Bulletin this year, using new publishing software that we hope you'll enjoy. You might notice however that the name at the top of this editorial is one that has been lurking on the pages of BAMOS for some time. It's great to be back as BAMOS Editor, after taking a few years off the job to finish my PhD and undertake a postdoctorial position in Catalonia.

But that is a tale for another time, and this issue (the first of four for 2017) is already jam packed. Paul Holper and Simon Torok of Scientell have prepared a great wrapup of the recent AMOS/MSNZ conference and ANZ Climate Data Forum. Damien Irving has some excellent advice for those working in the programming language Python. Matthias Tomczak has another literature quiz for us, and Gavin O'Brien shares data from his private weather station during the recent Canberra storms.

AMOS, and BAMOS by extension, survives on the contributions made by members. In other words, send me your stories! I want to share your weather pictures, your conference experiences, your experiemental analysis methods and your ideas for making AMOS the best it can be. Email me at [email protected] – no idea is too big or too silly! I look forward to reconnecting with you.
