There’ s something for everyone across the 155 acres of“ Baltimore’ s backyard,” including public sports fields and courts, a swimming pool, a serene pond and trails galore. But really, it’ s the Patterson Park Observatory on Hampstead Hill that stands out amongst the rest of the park’ s amenities. Opened in 1892, the structure was designed to resemble a pagoda and offers visitors breathtaking views of Charm City, as well as serving as the center of many community gatherings and seasonal events, such as the Big Baltimore Kite Fest that occurs every spring.
