Station North
You can easily spend a day exploring this Arts & Entertainment District’ s numerous galleries, music venues and workshop spaces. Start with Motor House, a creative incubator that includes two galleries, a bar and cafe, and a 200-seat black box theater where you can attend spoken word performances, fashion shows, concerts and more. Nearby, another black box, The Voxel, also serves as a teaching center and research lab. Feeling like getting creative yourself? Baltimore Improv Group holds workshops and interactive shows nearly every week, allowing you to meet locals while exploring your silly side.
4 Hamilton-Lauraville Located on the north end of
Hamilton-Lauraville’ s Main Street, The Strand is Baltimore’ s only brick-and-mortar theater space devoted solely to producing works written by female-identifying playwrights. Recognizing that theater traditionally was a man’ s occupation, The Strand strives to highlight new voices and amplify stories that have long been overshadowed. Before a show, visit some of the other womenowned businesses along Harford Road, including Found Studio, Domesticity and Milk & Ice Vintage. For dinner, try the famous crab cakes at Koco’ s Pub— a familyowned business run by Mr. Koco’ s daughter Marcella Knight.

South Baltimore
Amidst the lively bars and waterfront restaurants, South Baltimore boasts some one-of-akind performance venues. For a party-like atmosphere, check out Horseshoe Casino’ s new tailgateinspired club, Level One, which has hosted Rick Ross and Kodak Black. A more intimate— and spooky— option is Illusions in Federal Hill, a 1920s-esque theater that serves up magic, mentalism and even a bit of danger with a side of comedy, all in an interactive 90-minute show.

Fell’ s Point
Across the harbor in Fell’ s Point, you can view experimental productions at Vagabond Players or works by local artists at the volunteer-run Fells Point Corner Theatre. And when you need a laugh, Port Comedy Club has you covered; the 98-seat, New Yorkstyle club hosts comics seven nights a week.
7 Highlandtown With upwards of 70 makers living or working in the neighborhood, Highlandtown is a cultural hub. At the heart of this Arts & Entertainment District is Creative Alliance, which sees art as a powerful tool for expression and place-making. The Patterson multipurpose center features two galleries and a 200-seat flex theater space where you can view a wide variety of performances, from burlesque shows to interactive movie nights to candlelit concerts.
