From sleepy newborn snuggles to spoon-splattered smiles, the journey to solids is a big( and slightly messy) milestone.
Ahhh … the Newborn Stage! Sure, you might be a little( okay, a lot) sleep-deprived, but you’ ve got your little one’ s routine down pat: eat, poop, sleep, repeat. Just as you think you’ ve got this figured out, a new stage arrives – it’ s time to start introducing solids! Exciting, yes, but also a little stressful for new parents. And while it may feel daunting, it’ s an important milestone that can’ t be avoided.
Is your baby ready for solids?
“ Babies are typically ready to start solid food from around six months of age,” says Dr Fefe Mpisane-Jama, paediatrician and neonatologist at Mediclinic Milnerton.“ We advise exclusive breastfeeding or formula feeding for the first six months of life.”
