As of the 8th of August I have taken over for Erni Hamilton in the school and I aim to build on what Erni has achieved in her time here. I am working for Skills Development Scotland within the school in order to help and support the students, staff and parents. My main priority is working with the pupils of Breadalbane in order to help them make decisions on their course choices, subject choices and transition periods to and from school. I aim to have a successful relationship with staff, parents and pupils in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the students at Breadalbane Academy. Thanks to the staff and students for welcoming me into their school”. Formula 24 Team Win Spirit of Greenpower Award at East Fortune Pupils in S3-S5 have been involved in the national Greenpower Formula 24 project where they were challenged to design and build a racing car to meet specific regulations and race in two 90 minute races. Several months of hard work from the pupils culminated in the Breadalbane Boar – their Formula 24 single-seater race car which was ready for action at East Fortune Race Circuit on Sunday 4th September. The efforts of the team were rewarded with the Spirit of Greenpower Award, a fitting reward for our pupils who showed tremendous team-working skills and dedication to achieving their best. A spokesperson from Greenpower stated: “This award in many ways is the essence of Greenpower. It ties together the teamwork, leadership, organisation, performance and all the other elements that go into a Greenpower team. Over the years the winners have displayed incredible determination, fantastic solidarity with other teams helping out where possible, and the ‘never say die’ attitude keeping their car running in all circumstances.” This represents the tip of the iceberg for Formula 24 at Breadalbane. In addition to this, our senior pupils have started to design a bespoke chassis for entry into Formula 24+, a 16-25 year old category where they will compete against not just schools, but also university teams! The next months promise to be very exciting indeed and we are looking forward to the next races.
