Primary Remits
This year Mrs Jenkins is continuing in her role as Acting Principal Teacher for nursery and early years as well as sharing the nursery teacher post with Mrs Morrison . Mrs Jenkins ’ remit includes health and wellbeing as well as being responsible for the nursery , P1 , P1 / 2 and P2 / 3 classes . Mrs Marshall is responsible for the remainder of the primary classes as well as overseeing the department . Miss Simmons continues to be responsible for Additional Support Needs throughout the nursery and primary . All staff members can be contacted through the school office or via homework diaries in the case of class teachers .
Parent Reps
Last year the Parent Council organised Parent Reps for each primary class to enhance communication through a link person between teachers and parents . We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to main coordinator Alison Steele and her recruits who assisted with this over the past year . Unfortunately as there were no volunteers to take over from Alison the scheme has discontinued .
French Week
English medium classes in the primary continue to learn French this year as part of the 1 + 2 programme through which by 2020 pupils in Scotland will be taught a second language from P1 and a third language from P5 . To raise awareness and promote this , the primary will be holding a French week in the last week of this term when classes will learn about different aspects of France or French culture .
Curriculum Overviews
As a part of the school ’ s drive to improve communications with parents , primary teachers will from this session be issuing termly curriculum overviews that detail which aspects of literacy , numeracy , health and wellbeing , as well as some other curricular areas , pupils will be focussing on over the course of the term . The overviews for the first term have already been sent home and can also be accessed in the class pages on the school website .
Primary 3 / 4
“ Our topic on Transport is off to a flying start . We made this mural to show lots of different types of transport to start our learning journey , and designed our own cars to drive . We are looking forward to visits from the RNLI and the A9 Duelling Education Officers later this term to find out about rescue operations and to learn about transport in our local area ”.
