Medical marijuana

What it means for

Australian ’ s with chronic conditions or seriously ill will now be able to access medical marijuana easier under the new changes announced by the Federal Government .
There will be strict guidelines for those trying to access the drug based on the same procedures as any serious drugs and medicine . It can only be accessed through prescription and a very rigorous medical process .
The new changes will provide a green light for approved companies to legally import , store and sell medical marijuana until our domestic production is up and running and meets local needs . This will enable approved patients to be able to purchase the drug straight away , instead of having to wait for a shipment to arrive .
While the drug is currently sourced from overseas , approval was given late last year for local production to begin with the first licence for private cultivation issued last month . It is expected that locally sourced medical marijuana will be available later this year .
