Breaker 10.4 Interview

Well those who stick to a particular formula can become stale

Mikey: Yeah I agree with that.

Are you recording at the moment?

Mikey: We are working on something at the moment.

Rob: We are working on new material and we need to get everything recorded

Mikey: Like I said we try to change things up so we learn more about our limits and our musical professionalism I mean we've been together five years and things have changed.

In What ways?

Mikey; Well.

Rob; The orchestration

Mikey: The key change we started off in flat tuning and made our way up to sharp tuning and we use different harmonies as we try to get a better understanding of each other.

How do you think you can help the music scene in Leeds?

Mikey: We try to involve the audience a lot of the time and if we get heckled from a crowd we don't ignore it we welcome it because it's nice to have a bit of banter.

Rob: When someone goes to a gig there shouldn'r just be a case of sitting and listening you need to have some involvement, that thing has always been a part of our style.

Well there was once a hippy ideal that men and women can become united with the people on stage with no egotistical barriers and people can find freedom through music do you agree with that?

Rob: Well that is true

Someone once said that if life without music then life would be a mistake do you agree wuith that?

Mikey: I know a lot of people obsessively consumed by music.

Rob: Life would be boring without it.

And there would be a lot less to talk about.

Rob: I wouldn't say it'd be a mistake without it.

That's the most intersting thing about music because it can split opinion and bring people together in an instant.

Rob: Well there is no right and wrong in music.

What is your favourie venue in Leeds?

Mikey: The Grove

Where else have you played?

Mikey: Carpe dium, some open mike nights but soon we want to branch out of the grove.

Do you book gigs often?

RobL It's really a case of when we get a chance and if we get a chance.

Mikey: The Grobe is somewhere that we'll always play because that's where we started with open mike
