Sorry sweetie
Desserts can be delicious and sugar-free!

It is agreed upon
that process sugar in
excess is not good for us,
but sugar free desserts
are gross, right? They don’t
have to be. Everyone can
enjoy healthier desserts by
making natural and easy
substitutions. What got me
interested in minimizing my
consumption of processed
sugar is my love of baking,
eating baked goods, and
my
passion
for
only
putting goodness into my
body. I tested out a lot
of sugar substitutes in
baked goods and I found
a few to be very effective:

Bananas,
applesauce
(homemade or store
bought but without sugar
added), and honey have
been some of my
favorites so far. Bananas
work wonderfully as a
base for desserts, like
ice cream and pudding.
They also work in cakes
and cupcakes but they
do add a slight banana
flavor. Applesauce has
been my favorite sugar
swap in baked goods. It
doesn’t
change
the
original texture or flavor
of the dessert. Just
replace the sugar with
the same amount of
applesauce (and make
sure to reduce the other
liquids in the recipe).
Honey is a classic way
to take some sugar out
of your favorite recipe,
and because of its rich
flavor it requires much
less to satisfy any sweet
tooth. I use it to make

burning
chocolate. It is so
flavorful and delicious;
sugar is not missed one
bit.
