TAKE SOME TIME OUT THIS SUMMER

Switching off isn ’ t always easy and long-term stress can wreak havoc on your health . With the holiday season around the corner , it ’ s the perfect time to regroup , recharge and relax . The warmer weather and longer days make it an ideal time to take a break from the daily grind and focus on self-care . Here are some tips on how to relax this summer :
Plan a getaway Whether it ’ s a week-long holiday or a day trip , getting away from your usual environment can do wonders for your mental health . Plan a trip to a nearby town or city , go camping or head to the beach . Whatever your preference , make sure to unplug , unwind and enjoy the scenery .
Spend time in nature Speaking of scenery , spending time in nature is a great way to decompress and recharge . Go for a hike , spend the day at the park or take a leisurely bike ride . Being outside , can help reduce stress and anxiety and can even boost your mood .
Take a dip Jump into the pool or swim in the sea – it ’ s a great way to de-stress and relax . Water is 12 times denser than air , so swimming is a far more effective way to tone muscles than any other form of cardiovascular exercise that you can do on land . Swimming can be very relaxing when done at a slow pace and can help you unwind after a hectic year .
Switch off … literally Constant connectivity to our mobile devices has become one of the typical attributes of the modern-day office environment , with people checking emails even when lying on the beach . A great way to de-stress when you ’ re taking a break this summer , is to turn off your work cell phone and switch your mind off from any work worries .
Catch some rays Spend some time outside to get your dose of vitamin D . Exposure to sunlight is also thought to increase the brain ' s release of a hormone called serotonin . Serotonin is associated with boosting your mood and helping you feel calm and focussed . But remember to apply sunscreen and wear a hat .
Eat well Enjoying a well-deserved break is a great opportunity to get out of the routine of eating the same old lunchtime sarmies . With some time on your hands , you can experiment and
