Ways to lower your stress

These days we are all so busy with life , chores and work , we don ’ t always take time to slow down and think about how stress is negatively affecting us . It has been a particularly stressful 19 months with COVID-19 and lockdown so now , more than ever , it ’ s time to take a breath and learn to relax with these simple stress-relieving tips .
Listen to music If you ’ re overwhelmed by a stressful situation , try listening to relaxing classical music . Playing calm music has a positive effect on the brain and body , can lower blood pressure and reduce cortisol ( a hormone linked to stress ).
Meditate for a few minutes Research suggests that daily meditation may make you more resilient to stress and help alleviate anxiety . Sit up straight with both feet on the floor . Close your eyes . Focus your attention on reciting - out loud or silently - a positive mantra such as , ‘ I feel at peace ’. Let any distracting thoughts float away .
Reach out to loved ones Good relationships with family , friends and loved ones are important to any healthy lifestyle and there ’ s no time that this is more important than when you ’ re under a lot of stress . A reassuring voice , even for a minute , can help put everything into perspective .
