COVID-19 vaccinations : Things to note

With the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out well on its way and everyone from the age of 18 now eligible to get vaccinated , we ’ d like to encourage you to register to help The Department of Health ( DoH ) and Souht Africa fight this pandemic . However , we realise there has been some confusion around the registration process and payment of the vaccines , so let ’ s take you through the various steps .
Firstly , you need to register on the DoH ’ s Electronic Vaccination Data System ( EVDS ) – https :// vaccine . enroll . health . gov . za . This is a national and centralised database and the only legitimate avenue to register for a vaccine , whether you belong to a medical aid or not . Everyone vaccinated will be placed on this national register and provided with a vaccination card .
Once you have registered on the EVDS system you are able to go to the COVID-19 Hub on the Bonitas website - www . bonitas . co . za / covid - and obtain a QR code which will help speed up the vaccination process at the Bonitas vaccination sites .
The COVID-19 Hub also lists the private Bonitas vaccination sites along with other important information such as how and where to be tested and receive treatment , the different vaccines , safety protocols as well a comprehensive guide to recovering from COVID-19 .
Following the registration process :
• The DoH determines the vaccination site and time of your appointment . This will be communicated to you via a text message that will also provide you with a vaccination code
• On the date / time of your appointment make your way to the vaccination site and present the text message , along with your vaccination code , ID document and medical aid card . Don ’ t forget to wear your mask !
• The administrators at the vaccination site will search and confirm your registration information loaded on the EVDS database
• If you are not already registered ( you arrive at a vaccination site as a ‘ walk in ’) or your registration information is not available on the EVDS database , you will be assisted with completing a manual COVID-19 vaccination form
• Your temperature will be taken and then you will wait your turn to be called for your vaccination
• Once vaccinated , check that your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card information is completed , in full , to indicate information of the 1st dose of the vaccine , the vaccine name , batch number and the date that you are due to receive your 2nd dose
