1. Please tell me a little about yourself? Who is Brazilian Soul Crew ?
Well, Brazilian Soul Crew began in 2007 as a trio with Azee Project, Claudio Mansur and Edground. Currently we work as a duo, after longtime member and friend Azee Project left the group to pursue a solo career. We live in Taubaté, a small city close to Sao Paulo which is biggest city in Brasil. Claudio started to play in the late 80 and he is addicted to rare grooves and house classics, Edground started in the mid 90s and can be considered to be a hip hop and house music fan. They both share a common love for Brazilian music, from bossa nova to samba.
2. When did your career start?
Well, we have been friends for about 20 years now and have always been around music, mainly house music. In 2007 we decided to get together to listen and play some music at Azee Project’s studio. Since that day we have never looked back and the work has been increasing.
3. How did you get your start in the music business?
Our first opportunity was the remix for the song Nu Viaje by 2Brothers of Soul, but this remix was never released.
In 2007 when we did our first song, Brazilian Soul, we sent it to our friend Henri Kohn, A&R of german Conya Records. The track includes keyboards by Julian Bendal (Bah Samba) and acoustic guitar by Roberto Gomes. It was our first opportunity and was licensed by Soul Candi to be release in South Africa with remixes by local djs. But to be honest we dont know what happened with the project cause we only have DJ Mphulo Remix.
4. How had the internet changed your relationship with and to music and the industry?
Ah, its easier and faster to communicate, to be known and also to know new tracks, new talents. Internet helps to promote the work, the music. You are able to link up with various labels. The internet has kind of created a type of cannibalism in the music industry haha,
