Julia Jacobs is a triple gold level figure skater and now a well known coach and choreographer. We sat down with her to get some more information on her amzing career!

Q:What brought you into the sport of skating?

A:My parents started me at a young age to learn to skate and from there I grew to love the sport. Every year I grew to love it more and more and I feel as if I have made an emotional connection with skating. Each year I’d come back with a new goal to achieve and higher tests to pass. My determination and my coaches determination has brought me back year after year to push myself farther and achieve more. Which has led to success in my skating career.

Q:Who was your biggest inspiration?

A:My two biggest inspirations where my skating coach Michelle Blake and skating idol Kurt Browning. As a coach Michelle was hard on me but acted as a loving mother. She was a mentor someone who taught me and led me to be who I am today. When it comes to being a coach I strive to be like her, and go to her for any help or advice. She has made a huge impact in my life and I hope to do the same to my skaters. My second, Kurt Browning, has always been an idol and one of my favourite skaters to watch perform. He loves to entertain and bring emotion and enthusiasm to the sport. He inspires me to be creative and enjoy the sport for what it is and not stress about it. He also changed the name of the game when he landed the first quad in competition, which I always said I’d be the first female to land a quad.

Q:What makes you love the sport?

A:There is an emotional aspect to the sport that makes me love it so much. As a skater I have grown to fall in love with the sport as it’s a way to release and express my emotions. I have become so in love with skating that when doing anything whether it be a dance, skill or routine that I release and always feel emotion in everything I do. When stepping on to the ice nothing else matters but you and the ice, all your problems and cares go away and you feel happy. Skating in the mornings is one of the best things for me as after skating I feel relaxed and happy for the rest of the day. I love the sport for the emotion you are able to expressed and feel while doing it and even watching it and I hope I can share that as a coach with my skaters and other skaters as
