From 1966 to 2012, nearly a third of the world's
mass shootings took place in the U.S.
AWARENESS
Increase the public and law
enforcement’s awareness of
active shooter threats and
preparedness strategies
There were 136 mass shootings in the
first 164 days of 2016 in the U.S. in
which 4 or more people were killed.
People have a greater
chance of dying in mass
shootings if they're at
school or work
According to data from 2013,
incidents in schools and
businesses represent 7 out of 10
active shootings. Some of the
country's most high-profile mass
shootings have occurred there:
Sandy Hook, Columbine, Virginia
Tech and San Bernardino.
Overseas, these incidents
typically happen near military
installations.
How the Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA) Raises Awareness
This year, HSFA will conduct its public safety awareness campaign in 31 states (see city plan table below).
BallistiCrete
White Paper
HSFA will co-develop a white paper
with principal sponsor GigaCrete that
provides analysis and insight into
active shooter scenarios and the
technology we recommend to help
save lives and property during active
shooter incidents. This paper will be
distributed nationally.
National Public
Safety Survey
Conduct grassroots outreach
campaigns to survey 40,000
households across multiple
congressional districts and solicit
input/concerns on the threat of active
shooters. Provide information on how
BallistiCrete can help reduce loss of
life.
District Town
Hall Meetings
Host town hall meetings with more
than 20,000 law enforcement,
education, religious and military
leaders to discuss active shooter
response and provide maximum
exposure for our principal sponsor,
GigaCrete.
