First selected in 1979 by the Coast Guard to replace the HH-52 Sea Guard, the HH-65A Dolphin (above) fulfilled the USCG's need for short-range search and rescue aircraft. Unique for its shrouded tail rotor (fenestron) and automated systems, the USCG eventually acquired 102 Dolphins. The Dolphin is also unique in that it is certified for single-pilot instrument flight rules (IFR) operation. (Photo: USCG)
