AV News 178 - November 2009 Other popular AV production specific software that is used includes Pictures2EXE for the PC and on the Apple MAC - Fotomagico. Our Club has amongst many End of Year competitions and Trophies one specifically for Audio Visuals. There is also an increasingly popular annual interclub AV competition run by the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS). There are only 2 national AV competitions which are organised by the Australian Photographic Society and now only one AV International in Adelaide (South Australia). The Melbourne Camera Clubrooms are a popular and well equipped venue for the judging and exhibition of VAPS and the Australian Photographic Society (APS) AV competitions. Over the past 12 months we have had a variety of AV shows and activities that have attracted audiences outside our own membership. The most successful was in November 2008 when the APS showed the International Diaporama Gala Tour comprising 20 internationally accepted AVs to celebrate the 50th year of modern Audio Visuals. Several of the RPS AV producers were represented in the Gala. Two other Audio Visual events this year attracted good audiences. They were the judging for the APS AV Autumn National and APS Convention National competitions. These judging days were held in the Melbourne Camera Clubrooms and have proved very popular. A whole day of AVs (31 and 35 entries respectively) were shown covering categories 'Documentary', 'Theme', 'Music, Poetry or Song'. Our AV Group is small at present but thriving and we are enjoying the opportunity this gives to share what we are about. Perhaps on another occasion & article I could share some of the AV issues that we have solved and identify those that continue to trouble us but which an outsider's view might offer an alternative answer.
