AV News 200 - May 2015
Michael Gough FACI(M) IAC Fellowships Officer
As Fellowships Officer I have the honour
and privilege of being the first to know the
name of the next candidate for an IAC
Fellowship Award. My favourites are the
ones earned through the recognised skill
and effort of the member. It is possible to
watch the rise through the ranks as they
submit a portfolio of increasing successes
from Licentiate, through Associate and
finally the Master of Audio Visual Arts (or
Master Movie Maker equivalent).
As Linda has already said we had
nostalgic reasons which added to our desire to attend the AV Judging at
Capel Curig 2015. But this was made even more special to realise that one
of your colleagues, Richard Brown, was
only the fourth AV producer to attain the
FACI(M) Fellowship for a Master of Audio
Visual Arts. He was going to be at Capel
Curig and it was appropriate that the IAC
President should be there to present it.
Although I am IAC Fellowship Officer I
cannot do without the knowledgeable
assistance of Ron Davies who scrutinised
Richard's long list of AV Awards stretching
all the way back to 1982. That first award
was 8th. Prize in the RPS International AV
Festival. As they say from small acorns
great oaks grow. Richard is now at the top
of the tree. Congratulations.
